My family celebrated my father, Robert Conner’s 91st birthday yesterday, Sept. 5. He is still in good health but has difficulty getting around. He has a motorized wheelchair to assist in this regard. We took him to Smith’s Restaurant in Bolivar to celebrate and he ordered a steak dinner with a baked potato and a garden salad. He got around most of it but took half the steak home for later.
We met our daughter, Cheryl, and her husband, Dennis, who came up from Conway, AR, to celebrate the event. It was great weather so they drove up in their Jeep Wrangler, Lil Chief.
After we finished the meal at Smith’s we went back to dad’s house for the party. We were joined there by neighbors, pastors and close friends.
Neighbors, Pam and Fred, brought an apple pie and we had cake and ice cream to boot. One of dad’s caretakers, Margaret, bought him a cup as a gift. Fred supplied music with his guitar and we all sang “happy birthday.” Pastor Steve said the prayer before we ate.
All in all it was a great day and dad really enjoyed himself. It’s really hard to believe he’s 91, but then again, it’s hard to believe I’ll be 73 in November! Enjoy every day God has given you. Time does really go fast.
Blessings to all who made dad’s birthday great. We’ll see everyone again soon.
We all love you dad, Congratulations!
Son, Larry.
