Tops Chapter 9319 El Dorado Spring (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) met in the United Methodist Church, 201 E Broadway on Thursday, Sept. 10, for their weekly weigh in and meeting.

Carol led us in singing “To TOPS We Will Go.”

Susan was sick today so Co-Leader Linda Hall led us in roll call. Sixteen members weighed in. The chapter had a six gain and a 10 lb. loss resulting in a 4 lb. Net loss.

Best loser was a tie between Laura and Margie, each one losing 2.6 lbs.
Judy D had the program today, she based her program on chapter 5 of The TOPS Real Life Book. “Change For the better, steps to lasting change. We should not “Go On A Diet” that implies we will Go Off the diet at some point. Instead we must make a Healthy Lifestyle Change. There are six stages of lasting change.

1. Pre-contemplation, in denial and not committed to change
2. Contemplation, aware of problem and concerned about it
3. Preparation, carefully thinking through the steps needed to make change and putting together a realistic plan.
4. Action, courageously following each step of the plan
5. Maintenance, making progress and managing temptations
6. Recycling learning from mistakes and adjusting

Judy suggested when you are in the preparation stage to set a small goal focus on it and when you reach it set another. Write down your plan. You must learn what works for you.

You need support and accountability. We find you get wonderful support from other TOPS members. They are walking in your shoes. You get Accountability from weighing in each week.

Judy said the bottom line is: You must burn more calories than you eat!
Thank you, Judy D, for a wonderful program.

New business:
Linda said the El Dorado Springs Christmas Parade will be Saturday, Nov. 21. The theme for this year is “Angels Among Us” honoring our health care professionals.
