The El Dorado Springs R-II School Board met Thursday, Oct. 13. All board members were present: Darrell Eason, Greg Beydler, Josh Floyd, Allen Hoover, Benny Brower and Chad Whitesell. Board Member Scott Cluck sent his letter of resignation. It was accepted by the board. Cluck’s term would have been up in the spring, so the board decided not to appoint someone to the fill the position.

According to Superintendent Mark Koca, El Dorado Springs has been asked to be part of the Ozark Highlands  Conference. He said three other school boards, Buffalo, Warsaw and Butler have approved an application for the new conference. Sherwood and Cole Camp have been asked but haven’t completed the application process. Koca said that there needs to be five schools to form a conference and he thinks that Ozark Highlands may eventually include eight schools.

Koca said he was “cautiously optimistic. We’ve been down this road before.”

The board also discussed possible building options concerning the no tax increase bond issue that is on the November ballot.
