We had a great weekend. St. Clair County Deputies, Appleton City Police Department and Osceola Police Department teamed up with Missouri State Highway Patrol and took kids from Osceola, Lakeland, Roscoe and Appleton City Schools shopping for Christmas.

First, we all met at Lakeland School and loaded up all 36 kids on the Lakeland bus and headed to Walmart. We were met by Derrick and other Walmart employees and taken to the back break room where the kids enjoyed donuts and milk. Each kid was given a $100 gift card and sent on their way to shop with a Law Enforcement Officer. Once the kids found their presents they were taken back and our volunteers packaged the gifts. The kids were loaded on the bus back to Lakeland School, where they had a sack lunch awaiting their parents to pick them up.

We would like to thank all of the people who donated:

Bear Creek Church, Monegaw Park Association, Linda Pruitt, Joanna Bledsoe, TurnKey Corrections, St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office Employees and Walmart for their much-appreciated hospitality.

The biggest thank you to all of the school staff and volunteers that came and helped, we could not have pulled this off without you. A special thank you to the school resource officer, Deputy Allissa Jones, for coordinating the event again this year.
