TOPS Chapter #9319 morning meeting

50 YEARS IN TOPS – Juda Fugate-Wosoba was presented a certificate and a 50-year pin to celebrate her 50 years as a TOPS member and a charter member of the TOPS Chapter in El Dorado Springs.  Presenting the certificate and pin was co-leader Linda Hall.

TOPS Chapter 9319 El Dorado Springs met in the Methodist Church on Thursday, April 12, for a combination Open House and TOPS Chapter Birthday celebration.

Leader Sheryl Ann called the meeting to order. Carol led us in singing “Happy Birthday TOPS”.

We welcomed visitors, Sylvia Eldridge, Western MO Coordinator; Area Captain Claudia Gaylord;  two members of the Stockton TOPS Chapter, Madeline Scott and Mary West; and returning TOPS member, Judy B.

We said our pledges, Sheryl led us in roll call where we introduced ourselves by telling how long we had been in TOPS and or KOPS.

Twenty-four weighed in today and the chapter had a net loss of 6.4 lbs.  Sandi was the weeks best looser with a loss of 5.6 lbs.

Marilyn presented a couple of awards that did not get done last week. Juda received 1st place in division 4 with a 16.8 loss.

Kadeana received her 30 lb. loss certificate, this was given to Angie to present to her.

Jean then gave a brief history of TOPS  International then turned the floor over to Juda who talked about early days of TOPS, how it came about and what being a member of TOPS for 50 years has met to her.

Then we heard from our chapter King and Queen, Steve and Juanita Scoville. They talked about how they decided to join TOPS. How it has helped them in achieving a healthier lifestyle. Steve spoke on how he feels TOPS saved his life by helping him reduce his blood pressure and blood sugar levels. Juanita joined TOPS first and then talked Steve into going with her and they haven’t looked back since.

Meeting was adjourned so members and guests could visit, look at TOPS scrapbooks that Juda brought in and enjoy some healthy snacks provided by members.

TOPS International is celebrating a birthday this month as it was 70 years ago Edith Manz started TOPS in her home in Milwaukee, WI.

With no other business meeting was adjourned with our song and motto. If It Is To Be It IS Up To Me.

TOPS #MO 9319 meets each Thursday Morning in the Methodist Church, 201 E Broadway, El Dorado Springs. Weigh-in starts at 7:45 a.m., the meeting begins at 8:45 a.m. and is over by 10 a.m.
