TOPS Chapter 9319 El Dorado Springs (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) met in the United Methodist Church, 201 E Broadway on Thursday, Oct. 31, for their weekly weigh-in and meeting.

Leader Susan opened the meeting with the TOPS and KOPS Pledges

Carol led us in singing “Trick Or Treating.”

Twenty weighed in today. The chapter had a 7.2 net gain. Best loser was Robbie with a loss of 4.6 lbs. Other great losses were: Linda H 1.2, Susan .8 and Juda .6.

Cheryl M won the right to draw for a marble but did not get the winning one.

Sue reminded us we need to make contributions to the church fund. She has a jar for this each member is encouraged to drop a little into it and at the end of the year we donate to the church in appreciation of the use of the building.

Marilyn led us in a series of exercises. Thank you, Marilyn, for getting us up and moving.

Cheryl M brought up the subject of the quilt Jean is donating. She wants to know what the chapter wants to do. Hold a raffle and if so where should proceeds go, to chapter or to a local soup kitchen or food pantry or church? Should we have a weight loss contest of some kind for a member to win? Susan said we would table this for next week. Everyone be thinking of what they would like to do.

Susan said to remember in case of bad weather we will not hold a meeting if the El Dorado Springs school is closed for bad weather. Since our members are scattered use your common sense as to if you want to get out. Call or message the weight recorder or an officer of the chapter. If it is decided not to hold a meeting even though there is school a message will be sent out on email and/or members will be called if possible.

Floor was turned over to Cheryl M for the program.  She had “Snacks & Conversation” She brought apple slices and a mixture of peanut butter, yogurt and marshmallow fluff to dip the apple slice into for the snack.  For the conversation she started it with saying she is currently following the KETO diet but finding it getting “old” over time. She asked members what they are doing and tips on success. This sparked a lively discussion and many ideas. Mostly, it is not a diet but a lifestyle change that is working for most of us. TOPS does not require any special “Diet” but does offer advice on “points” and support on what ever life style change each member finds works for them.

With no other business meeting was adjourned with the quote of the day.

“A strong positive attitude will create more miracles than any wonder drug.”
