TOPS: Never use scales, scales don’t measure sexy

Tops Chapter 9319 El Dorado Springs (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) met in the United Methodist Church, 201 E Broadway Thursday, Aug. 6, for their weekly weigh in and meeting.

Carol led us in singing “Walk To Stay Fit.”

We said our TOPS and KOPS Pledges.

Susan led us in roll call. Twenty-three weighed in today. The chapter had a 19.2 gain and a 12.2 loss resulting in a 7.0 net gain.

Best loser was Laura with a loss of 3.4 lbs.  Angie had a loss of 3.2, LJ 2.2, and Robbie a 1.8 loss.

Congratulations to all.

Marble game: Sue C won the right to draw for the marble and got the winning one. She won the pot in the amount of $18 and the chapter received $18. A new game will start next week.

Susan read a letter from Claudia.  She reminded us this is the last month for the Summer Contest. The things you need to do to be in Summer Contest are:

Write an essay on what TOPS means to you, put it in an envelope with your name and chapter # on it and give it to leader.

You need to Lose weight and exercise as well. Your weight chart will show that you lost weight and I assume you will keep a diary of exercise. These will be given to the leader along with your essay.

Our chapter will get bonus points if we get a new member this month.

ARD, remember Awards Recognition Day will be at Clinton in the Benson Center on Saturday Oct. 3.

There will be NO baskets for raffle.

The cost is $20 per person to register.

Jean will pass out signup sheets next week

Jean will pass out order form for T-shirts and charms and pinnets next week.

Registration forms and money and orders for T-shirts and charms must be sent in by Sept. 9.

We need all the above no later than Aug. 27, to get it all sent in.

Susan asked if the Chapter would pay registration as it is like a regular SRD where the chapter pays the registration.

Linda Hall moved we pay the registration; all rules apply as stated in the by-laws for SRD. Robbie 2nd motion passed. Members attending will pre-register by paying the treasurer $20 if the member attends ARD the $20 will be returned to them as outlined in the by-laws.

Floor was turned over to Marilyn to present awards for July.

The month of July the chapter had a Gain of 56 pounds and a loss of 109.6 giving us a net loss of 53.6 lbs.

Winner of free dues drawing was Carol, since she is a KOPS she turned her winnings over to Sue C.

Accomplishments: There were several who have reached a new decade:

Warren H, 4.4 loss, lowest weight this year and in a new Decade

Chris Witt, 7.4 loss, lowest weight this year and in a new decade

Terri Dresh 10.6 loss lowest weight this year and in a new Decade

Laura Hicks, 13.8 loss, lowest weight this year and in a new decade and reached the century mark today.

Best loser for the month was Laura Hicks with the 13.8 loss.  She received $7.90. Congratulations to all.

Marie received a certificate and charm for a vacation loss earned July 16.

Angie received a certificate and charm for 1st place in Most Inches lost Jan-July she lost 10 inches. Sandi was 2nd place in most inches lost, she lost 4 inches, she tied with Marie who also lost 4 inches. Congratulations ladies.

Members on the goal stick are: Judy B, Chris, Linda H, Judy D, Juda W, LJ, Margie and Linda C.
