Vernon County Sheriff’s Office marks 100 days with big wins

In a recent Facebook post, Vernon County Sheriff Mike Buehler released a public update marking his first 100 days in office. He shared a list of accomplishments that highlight his proactive approach to law enforcement, public safety, and community engagement.

According to the Sheriff’s post, which was shared on the department’s official Facebook page, the past 100 days have included major drug enforcement operations, improved collaboration with the Nevada Police Department, emergency disaster response, and a continued focus on serving all 837 square miles of Vernon County.

Since January, the Sheriff’s Office has conducted several narcotics operations alongside the Nevada Police Department. These efforts have resulted in the execution of multiple search warrants and the recovery of large quantities of methamphetamine and other controlled substances. The department emphasized its commitment to targeting illegal drug distribution networks that pose a threat to local communities.

In a move that’s already shown results, the Sheriff’s Office has integrated its software systems with those of the Nevada Police Department. This technological partnership has enhanced investigative coordination, particularly in theft cases. According to Sheriff Buehler, the improved system has allowed both agencies to work more efficiently, share information, and recover stolen property with greater speed.

When a tornado struck Vernon County in early April, the Sheriff’s Office stepped into emergency response mode. Working alongside local emergency management personnel, first responders, energy providers, and generous business owners, the department helped coordinate recovery efforts that brought relief to storm victims and restored essential services in record time.

“It was a team effort with great results,” Buehler noted, recognizing the community’s resilience and the role of local partnerships in the recovery process.

While much of the report highlighted extraordinary efforts, the Sheriff also pointed out that his team has remained committed to the everyday responsibilities of law enforcement: regular patrols, prompt incident response, jail operations, communication services, court paper service, and courthouse security.

“We remain committed to our mission of creating a safe and secure county for all,” Buehler wrote, thanking residents for their support during his first 100 days in office.
