Words for the week: Calories and recharge

TOPS Chapter 9319 El Dorado Springs met in The Firefly Services building, on Thursday, Nov. 13, for their regular weigh-in and meeting.

Our Leader, Warren called the meeting to order.

Carol led us in singing “To TOPS CLUB WE WILL GO”.

We said our TOPS & KOPS pledges.

Warren led us in roll call, 15 members weighed in. We had a 3.8-pound gain and a 9.2 loss. Giving us a net loss of 5.4 pounds.

The best loser for the week was Pat with a 9-pound loss. Congratulations Pat.

Steve and Juanita S had the program today. They talked about preparing our minds for Thanksgiving. Juanita opened a big beautiful bag of Oreo Cookies and said she got them just for us and we just had to try them. She passed them to each member, most members automatically took one, however one said she did not like Oreo’s, another said she would not eat bought cookies. Juanita said that is a problem we all face when we attend and get together, you don’t want to hurt Aunt J’s feelings and not try her award-winning pie! So, if you feel you should just take a small piece and enjoy it.

They then went over a typical Thanksgiving menu and asked members to put down what they planned to have and add up the calories. It was quite eye opening! Juanita then passed out a sheet with a series of exercises focusing on spelling the word pumpkin, for instance “P” is for PUSHING your arms overhead 10 times. “U” is for Up & Down from your chair five times. If we do all of these several times that will help! Thank you, Steve & Juanita, your programs are always fun and informative.

Marble Game: Marie won the right to draw but did not get the winning one. The pot is at $21.

Our next meeting, Thursday, Nov. 20, same time as always. Thanksgiving week we will meet on Tuesday, Nov. 25.

Christmas party Thursday, Dec. 11. If you want to participate, bring a gift cost of $15 or less, if you are a woman, bring a gift for a woman, if man bring a gift for a man. We will have snacks (healthy and low calorie preferred).
