What’s Going On in Washington— After more than forty days of gridlock, the grueling Schumer Shutdown is finally over, and America is back. For weeks, hardworking families were caught in the middle while Washington Democrats put politics before people. They even admitted they were using the American people as “leverage.” That’s not leadership. That’s cruelty.

But House Republicans stayed the course. We governed when others grandstanded. And this week, we passed a bipartisan, America-First funding bill that reopens our government without raising taxes, without bloating Washington, and without surrendering to the radical Left’s demands.

As Vice Chair of the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Subcommittee, I’m especially proud that this package fully funds veterans’ health care and key VA programs. We’re keeping our word to those who wore the uniform and defended our freedom.

And for the people of Missouri’s Fourth District, this bill delivers real results:

$3 million for a new Agricultural Research Service Center at the University of Missouri in Columbia — strengthening our ag economy and keeping America feeding the world.

$1.6 million for a Regional Maternal Health Center at Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton — bringing cutting-edge technology to rural Missouri so moms and babies can receive world-class care close to home.

$750,000 for a secure sally port at the Missouri Law Enforcement Center in St. Clair County — protecting officers, inmates, and our communities.

And a major victory for our military community: this bill includes a provision that protects taxpayers’ nearly half-billion-dollar investment at the Fort Leonard Wood hospital, ensuring it remains a full-service facility for our troops, their families, and surrounding communities for generations to come.

These are tangible wins for the people we serve. This is what governing looks like.

Together, with President Trump, we’re restoring fiscal sanity, strengthening our nation’s defenses, and putting the American people, NOT bureaucrats, back in charge. The Schumer Shutdown may have held America hostage, but we never stopped fighting for Missouri’s Fourth and for the hardworking folks across this great nation.

Liberation is here. The government is open. And America is back.
