Joplin Regional Artists Coalition is excited to host an Emerging Artist juried exhibit this fall at the Spiva facility in the new Cornell Complex (Nov 12-Dec 31). Please see below for the guidelines and deadlines. We can’t wait to see what the area’s new artists come up with for this event. Please share this announcement with artists and educators in the area.
Guidelines for Emerging Artist Exhibit
An emerging artist, for the purposes of this exhibit, is defined as:
Currently enrolled in High School or University level art classes/degree plan or self-taught
Currently honing skill and style in preferred medium
Landed some recognition, but no commercial representation
Working less than five years in preferred medium
Not using art as main source of income
Age restriction: Must be 16 or older
Show details:
Two dimensional works:
Wired properly for hanging-no saw-toothed hangers
Canvases must be framed or edges properly finished on gallery wrapped canvas, simple gesso finish is not acceptable
Size limitations 72” x 72”
Three dimensional works:
Under 100 pounds
All components must be properly secured
Felt or protective pads on the bottoms to protect venue’s surfaces

Price or NFS (must be a firm price, negotiable is not permitted)
Image of piece submitted for jury process no later than Oct. 15, to joplinrac@gmail.com.
Drop off of accepted pieces will be announced as it gets closer to the event
Awards for this exhibit are:
First Place: $125
Second Place: $100
Third Place: $75
Honorable Mention (3): $25
Opening receptions is: Nov. 11, 5 p.m.-7:30 p.m. at Spiva.
