As we come to the mid-point in this year’s legislative session, I am happy to report that the Missouri Senate has functioned very well. The last few sessions have been challenging, so this session has been a breath of fresh air. We have sent several bills to the House of Representatives for their consideration and they, in turn, have sent many bills to us. We have hit a few bumps in the road, but keep moving forward. We have been unable to do that the past couple of years.

DAV Members
Alvin Hillis (Scott County), Tim Dollins (Newton County), Senator Crawford and David Bozarth (Cedar County)
Next week we will be on a legislative break. It is much needed after working very hard over the past several weeks. I filed twenty nine bills this year, which is way too many. I keep very busy preparing those bills for hearings. To date, twenty of them have had Senate hearings, and one has had a House hearing. I have a full calendar every day and spend several hours a week attending committee hearings. A lot of time is dedicated to meeting with constituents as they share their concerns about various topics. On top of office work, we are also in session debating bills every day. It is a lot to keep up with, but I enjoy keeping busy.
It is hard to believe that we are half way through session and next year will be my final session in the General Assembly. I plan to continue to work hard, pass needed legislation and enjoy my final two legislative sessions. It is an honor to serve in the Missouri Senate and something I will never forget.
