One of the most groundbreaking pieces of the Republican-passed Working Families Tax Cut Act is Trump Accounts, a bold new initiative designed to give every American child a true head start and a fair shot at success.
For the first time in our nation’s history, the federal government is investing directly in the financial future of the next generation. Trump Accounts are tax-advantaged savings accounts for American children, available to roughly 44 million families with kids under 18.
As part of the pilot program, every child born between January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2028, will receive a $1,000 contribution from the U.S. Treasury at birth.
From there, parents, grandparents, guardians, friends—even employers and community organizations—can contribute up to $5,000 per year to help that account grow over time.
According to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, a $1,000 investment at birth could grow to nearly $674,000 by retirement age, based on historical market returns. That’s the power of starting early and letting long-term growth work in a child’s favor.
These funds aren’t locked away for some distant purpose. When the time comes, they can be used for a down payment on a first home, capital to start a small business, or education and workforce training. Trump Accounts don’t tell kids what path to take—they give them the freedom to choose.
I hear from families across Missouri’s Fourth District who are working hard, playing by the rules, and still worrying about how to give their children more opportunities than they had.
Trump Accounts are a direct answer to that concern.
This is what House Republicans are fighting for: policies that strengthen families, encourage saving, and invest in the next generation—not more government dependency or empty promises.
President Trump and House Republicans are focused on building opportunities that last, and not just for today, but for decades to come. Trump Accounts are a clear example of conservative leadership delivering real results for American families!
As always, it’s an honor to serve you.
