band t-shirt 4cc

FIRST T-SHIRT – In between the rain drops Friday evening, El Dorado Springs 5th grader Kelsi Hunt, accompanied by her mom, Jennifer Kleine, came to the Sunderwirth Bandstand to claim the first  Downtown Tunes T-Shirt handed out by Vicki Hillsman, band volunteer. Kelsi and about 50 of her summer school schoolmates had attended the field trip showing of the Music Man movie at 8 a.m. Friday in the Opera House Theater. The summer school administrators, Tracy Barger and Mike Durnell, along with the 5th and 6th grade teachers and staff, brought the kids downtown. An anonymous donor treated them to popcorn and soft drinks. After the movie, the youngsters enjoyed a mini-band demonstration by Caleb Alexander on saxophone, Tracy Lanser on flute, Mark Koca on trumpet and Teri Biddlecome on trombone to introduce them to the instruments. Shannon Gray, the new vocal music instructor for the Middle School and High School, spoke with them about musicals and participating in Middle School and High School musical opportunities. Joyce Cain Custom Ts and Kamber Cain Music invited them to come to the bandstand at 8 p.m. Friday for free T-shirts they donated but Mother Nature rained on that parade. The T-shirt give away has been rescheduled for 8 p.m. this Friday, July 1, at the Sunderwirth Bandstand. The kids are invited to stay for a special band concert in their honor. Oh, Kelsi said she had already been on the front page of the Sun – 10 years ago when she was the first baby of the year.
