The Opera House Arts Council has another scholarship concert scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, June 23, featuring one of our local bands, Rekoil.

Rekoil is a long time home town band of El Dorado Springs, made up of four country boys with deep roots in playing country music with an occasional old rock n roll tune that every one loves to hear. The band was formed in 2008 with originating members David Taylor and Drex Salazar. Later the two added Mike Longhofer and Joe Dotson. With its combined musical talents the band has the ability to play music from as far back as George Jones to todays Blake Shelton. The band has performed in and around for numerous local and area venues and events, several times at the El Dorado Springs Picnic Street Dance as well for the local American Cancer Walk for life.

Drex Salazar – singer/lead guitarist: Drex started playing live music at the young age of 16. He started playing lead guitar and performing back up vocals. Drex has played with several area bands – Southern Star, The Outlaws, Nite Life and currently Rekoil. Musical influences growing up were Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughn and Eric Johnson. Drex had the opportunity to tour over the road with the Ronn George Band. Drex’s goal is to be in touch with people’s emotions through his music.

David Taylor – singer/drummer: David, a hometown boy, started his musical career at the age of 11 playing drums for his dad (David Taylor Sr.) Band Country Express with his first show being the Jerico Springs Picnic. Later while in school David became a member of the El Dorado High School Marching and Jazz Band fine tuning his drumming style and technique that he uses today. David has played in several local bands over the years – Country Express, Cheyenne Wind, Off The Record and Nite Life, just to name a few. David has had the opportunity to open for a few big name entertainers along the way – Daryle Singetary, Chely Wright and Sammy Kershaw. Playing music has always been a passion of his and he hopes to continue doing so for many years to come.

Joe Dotson – singer/guitarist: Joe Dotson is a lifelong resident of the Walnut Grove area. Joe’s musical influences vary from early Rock and Roll and Country to the Rock groups of the ‘80’s and he draws on all of these to help fill out the band’s set lists. Joe is a self-taught guitarist since around 1982 and says that being a part of Rekoil has renewed his passion for playing.

Mike Longhofer – bass guitarist: Singer, bass player Mike Longhofer was born in 1954, the same year; possibly the same second as Rock and Roll. In the early days Mike and little brother, Rich, put the name “Rock Vegas” on the map. Since 1968 he has let that shine up through all that he plays. Overload, Cheyenne Wind, Breakaway, Marci Mitchell, Off the Record, Nite Life and Rusty Lux were some of the bands and talent that couldn’t help but rub off.

Advance tickets are available at Allison’s Quick Lube, Fugate Motors, and Mid Missouri Bank. Advance tickets will be $7 and $10 at the door. Come and enjoy some of our local talent and meet the band members. For more information, call 417/296-5990.
