Schell City business defying rural odds

Bent & Broke Welding Co., LLC (Bent & Broke Welding) is proud to announce a new partnership agreement with Capital Steel Industries (CSI), based out of Littleton, CO. Through this new partnership agreement, Bent & Broke Welding will offer premium quality, prefabricated steel buildings for commercial, industrial, residential and agricultural applications as a CSI Dealer and General Contractor. The local commercial construction firm will partner with the steel building giant to provide premium pre-engineered steel buildings in the Four States Region.

Buildings range from simple backyard garages to churches, schools warehouses, shopping centers, and various other sizes and configurations. Customers can purchase building packages which they can either erect themselves or opt for a turnkey solution with Bent & Broke Welding working as General Contractor to complete the building project to the customer’s needs and specifications. In addition, they are able to provide customers with services such as groundwork and excavation, interior improvements such as plumbing, painting, windows, doors, railings, etc. and any exterior improvements such as building facades, landscaping or asphalt. As General Contractor, Bent & Broke Welding can serve as a complete steel building solutions provider.

Diversification and working regionally, has been the key to this small businesses success thus far. With the business located in the small rural town of Schell City (population 249) there are definite disadvantages for business growth due to the limited customer base/population. However, the key for this business has been working with customers throughout the West Central Missouri region and to offer a wide array of services and product.

One example of diversification came in 2016, when Bent & Broke Welding signed on as an authorized service provider for Kleenco USA. In this capacity, the company provides welding and general maintenance services to major retailers throughout Missouri, Kansas and Arkansas.

The base of services which the company was founded upon is welding, fabrication and blacksmithing services and mobile welding services 24/7. While looking to increase their market share in these base areas, Bent & Broke Welding expanded their product line in 2016 to include home decor items and building enhancements such as steel doors and windows. The company also offers services to repair and maintain agricultural and construction machinery implements and attachments. Some of the business’s diverse projects thus far, has included the design and construction of complex piping systems for various gas companies in Oklahoma to building new trailers, implements and attachments for their local agricultural customers.

Offering multiple products and services which center around steel, the company can further cater to their customers’ needs by providing steel building construction as a natural progression in becoming a complete steel services provider.

Gina Ensor, vice-president of Bent & Broke Welding, said, “We are excited about our new partnership with Capital Steel. We are proud to offer the quality of product, service and guarantees that come with Capital Steel buildings. Our business philosophy and desire has always been to become more of an asset to our customers as we grow. When people think of anything that is related to metal, we want Bent & Broke Welding to be the first thing that comes to mind. This new partnership will allow us to better serve our region and become more of a one stop shop for our new and existing customers.”

The company has recently purchased property located at 246 River Road in Schell City, which will allow them to relocate and expand their operations and facilities. A groundbreaking ceremony is planned at their new location at 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14. They invite the community and all of their customers to the groundbreaking event and will be serving hot dogs, chips and drinks to those attending.
