St. Clair County – The Missouri Route 82 bridge over Simms Creek west of Roscoe will be CLOSED beginning the week of September 26, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.

Contractor crews will replace the current bridge with a new structure, which will be approximately two feet higher, four feet wider and 24 feet longer. The bridge will include new barrier walls, guardrail on the bridge ends and permanent pavement striping.

The current bridge was built in 1930 and is in deteriorating condition. Approximately 880 vehicles cross the bridge daily.

Traffic impacts:

All lanes of Route 82 CLOSED at the bridge for the duration of the project

Drivers will have access to entrances and driveways at either end of the bridge but will not be able to travel through the work zone

Drivers will be directed along the following signed detour on St. Clair County Route K, U.S. Route 54 and St. Clair County Route DD

Drivers are urged to find alternate routes around the work zone
