Darrel Lee Farran was born Feb. 24, 1947, in Lynch, NB, to Lyle and DeLoris (Jorgensen) Farran. He went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sept. 24, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.

Darrel grew up on a family farm and cattle feeding operation near Stanton, NB. He graduated from Stanton High School in 1965.

After high school Darrel volunteered for the draft and served honorably as an Army infantry combat soldier in the 9th Infantry Division, referred to as “The Old Reliables,” during the Vietnam War, serving from 1966-1968.

Darrel met the love of his life, Brenda Darlene King, while stationed at Fort Ord, CA, upon returning from Vietnam. They were united in marriage Sept. 20, 1968. Darrel and Brenda had twin sons, Deric Lee and Eric Lee, and a 3rd son Travis Brent.

God began working in Darrel’s life when he made a deal with God while in a foxhole situation in the jungles of Vietnam in 1967 that he would make sure his future wife and children would go to church if God saw him through the war. Darrel’s life was most impacted by his Vietnam experiences. As years passed his life showed that God held him to that promise he made. The resulting fruit of his faith was all his family came to the saving grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ.

Darrel was baptized for the remission of his sins, a devout Christian, tenacious in his faith and loved the Lord with all his heart, soul, and mind. No matter the difficulty of his life, he remained faithful, and he was never afraid or ashamed to share it with anyone.

Darrel was an entrepreneur. He was passionate about farming, raising cattle and many other business ventures through the years. He was a very successful real estate broker with United Farm Agency from 1978-1983, selling farms and ranches in Nebraska and South Dakota where he won many awards and accolades. In the mid 1980’s Darrel relocated his family to central Florida and owned and operated several businesses there. In 1996 Darrel and Brenda purchased a ranch near El Dorado Springs where they built a cow/calf operation and an industrial air filter cleaning business called Filter Care of Missouri.  Darrel was active in the ranch and filter business operations up until late stages of his illness, and those operations continue today.

Darrel was a constant “truth-seeker,” no matter the cost. He seemed to hunger for it literally, and he was not influenced by popularity or the ways of the world. He was an avid reader of history and biblical studies. His life was very robust, and he would often share his life’s experiences and how they were purposeful and all for the glory of God. He was a true Christian Patriot who loved God and Country.

Darrel was preceded in death by his parents Lyle and DeLoris and his mother-in-law Dovie King. He is survived by his beloved wife Brenda of the home. Father-in-law Larry King of Grants Pass, OR.
