Janice Sue Manning, 79, a resident of Independence, passed away peacefully Sunday, Dec. 4, 2022 at the Villages of Jackson Creek Care Center in Independence. She was born May 23, 1943 to Alvin and Fern (Shaw) Mooney in Jerico Springs.

Janice graduated from El Dorado Springs High School in 1961. She spent her working career as a cartographer for the United States Geological Survey. Janice enjoyed making ceramics, embroidering, playing games and cards with family.

Janice is survived by her daughter, Brandi Harris, and husband, Scott of Blue Springs; son, Sean Manning, and wife, Kelly of Wentzville; siblings, Terry Mooney of Eldorado Springs, Carl Mooney of Eldorado Springs, Tommy Mooney and wife, Opal, of Walker, Ruth Leonard and husband, Jim, of Cedar Springs; grandchildren, Riley Harris, William Manning, Eleanor Manning, Meredith Manning, Maven Manning

Janice is preceded in death by her husband; parents; siblings, Ernest Mooney and Elizabeth May Zellmer.

Janice will be cremated per her wishes.  A family service will be held at the Hazel Dell Cemetery near Eldorado Springs in the spring.
