Claudine Pope, 83, Skiatook, OK, went to be with her Lord and Savior Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2023 in Tulsa, OK.

Claudine was born June 17, 1939 in Vinita, OK, to Claude and Cecil (Howard) Lollar. She grew up and received her education in Sperry and graduated from Sperry High School in 1957. After high school she attended Graceland College in Lamoni, IA, Adams State in Alamosa, CO, and Tulsa University where she received her Bachelors Degree in Education.

Claudine married Gilbert Reynolds in 1959 and they made their home in Skiatook. Later she married James “Jim” Pope in June of 1984 in El Dorado Springs, where they made their home. She taught 1st grade at Marrs Elementary in Skiatook from 1970 to 1974 and taught remedial reading and math in El Dorado Springs at El Dorado Springs Elementary School from 1974 to 2000. After retirement she tutored adults and children teaching many to read.

She loved to travel and saw much of the United States including a special trip to Alaska with the Pope family and a trip to Nice, France with her grandchildren to visit their French grandmother. Claudine volunteered many hours at the public library in El Dorado Springs. She directed and sang in the church choir her entire life and also played the piano and organ. Claudine enjoyed working with children and youth, reading, cooking and fishing with Jim.

Claudine was preceded in death by her husband: Jim; mother and father, Cecil and Claude, and brother: C.E. Lollar.

Claudine is survived by her children, Steve Reynolds and wife, Virginia Janey Reynolds; grandchildren, Colt Herren and wife, Sara, Monica Meier and husband, Landon Sonny Reynolds; great-grandchildren, Cash Herren, Chaz Herren, Chloe Herren; brother-in-law, Tom Pope and wife, Marilyn; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Steward and husband, Eldon, Pat Lollar; special family friend, Forrest Troyer, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family of Claudine Pope entrusted her care and services to Sien-Shelton Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family has suggested making contributions to the El Dorado Springs City Library.

A Celebration of Life service will begin at 1 p.m. Jan. 28, at the El Dorado Springs First Christian Church, 300 S. Main St., El Dorado Springs.
