Surrounded by his loved ones, Johnnie Everett Chambers, 81, of El Dorado Springs, passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday morning, Oct. 16, 2021.

John was born Feb. 10, 1940, in Cedar County to Orval and Lois Chambers.  He was the second born of seven children growing up in Cedar County.  Just shy of his high school graduation, John enlisted in the US Marine Corp.  He was stationed at Camp Pendleton, CA, from June 1957 to November 1960, where he became a truck driver. John’s roots brought him back to his home in Missouri. Soon after, he met the love of his life, Sharon Williams. They would marry on Jan. 6, 1962, at the First Methodist Church in El Dorado Springs. Together, they had three children, Teresa, Johnna and Johnny.  He was a hard working man, painting water towers and driving trucks, gaining his CB nickname Buzzard. He would go on to work for more than 20 years before retiring at Mid America Dairy.

John had many hobbies throughout his lifetime.  Fishing, fixing up old boats, reading westerns, trail riding, going to horse shows, traveling on long motorcycle rides, playing cards with friends and family. One of John’s biggest passions was his love for hunting and running his dogs, often tearing up a truck or two. He raised and sold July Hounds for many years. John was a man of few words with a big heart. Devoted husband and loving father, he will be deeply missed.

John left behind-his wife, Sharon Chambers, of 59 years; two daughters, Teresa (Jim) Graves, and Johnna Potter; one son, Johnny Chambers;  three brothers, Gary Chambers, Larry (Tracy) Chambers and Roger (Cathy) Chambers;  two sisters, Janet (Jerald) Jones, and Melody (Steve) Johnson;  two brothers-in-law, Jim Williams, and Dave (Billie) Williams;  11 grandchildren;  eighteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

John is preceded in death by his parents, Orval and Lois; brother, Clarence; three sisters-in-law, Marianne Chambers, Connie Williams and Linda Williams; and one granddaughter, Nicole Cain.
