Judith Allene Mayeur

Judith Allene Mayeur, 69, Diamondhead, MS, passed away Thursday, Jan. 12, 2017 in Diamondhead, MS.

She was a wonderful and loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Judy graduated from El Dorado Springs High School, Class of 1965.

Judy served her country in the Women’s Army Corps, the US Army and the Louisiana National Guard. She worked as a federal technician at Jackson Barracks for many years.

Later she worked in retail until her retirement. She continued her service to our nation as an auxiliary member of the VFW Post #2880 and the Washington Artillery Veterans Association.

While not a native of New Orleans, she came to love this city as her own. Her family was her hobby and she treasured each moment that she spent with them.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John F. Conway and Mary Elizabeth Musick of El Dorado Springs and granddaughter, Rylee Mayeur.

She is survived by her husband, Russell A. Mayeur Jr. of Diamondhead, MS; two sons, Russell A. Mayeur III (his wife Stacey) and Wayne Carriker (his wife Sherry); three daughters – Col. LaDenna Piper (her husband Walter), Andrea Williams (her husband Carl) and Elizabeth Hasselgren (her husband Dustin); 12 grandchildren -Meghean, Joseph, Russell IV, Mason, Brian, Katelyn, Madi, Payton, Liberty, Noah, Leah and Cayden.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to, Jackson Barracks Museum, 6400 Saint Claude Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70117.

The visitation will be held from 9-11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18, in Jackson Barracks Museum, New Orleans, LA with an 11 a.m. memorial service. Burial will be held at 2 p.m. following the service at South East LA Veterans Cemetery in Slidell, LA.

Edmond Fahey Funeral Home in Bay St. Louis, MS is in charge of the arrangements.
