Kathy Jean (Prough) Richardson, 63, was born Feb. 25, 1959, in Nevada. She passed away peacefully at her home on Jan. 30, 2023. She was the eldest daughter of Everett and Patricia (Goble) Prough.
Kathy graduated with the Walker Class of 1977. After graduation she met Sam Richardson of Otis, KS. They were united in marriage on April 14, 1979 and to their union two sons were born, Adam and Curtis. Sam’s employment along with promotions, took the family to Kansas, Ohio, Maine, Pennsylvania, Illinois and finally retiring to Tennessee.
Kathy was known for her love of family most of all. She had a special love of children and spent many hours reading as a school librarian and a Special Needs Teacher’s Assistant. She also loved flowers and gardening and making all things beautiful. She had a love of bird watching and made sure they were fed and cared for. One of her favorite activities was to read a good book on the beach. She also loved doing genealogy for her family and friends to enjoy and share.
She was preceded in death by her little sister, Carol Ann Prough; paternal grandparents, Harvey and Rose Prough; and maternal grandparents, John and Margie Goble.
Surviving are her husband, Sam; sons, Adam and Curtis (Kassandra) Richardson; parents, Everett and Patricia Prough; sister, Karen Doolin; brother, Ken (Diana) Prough; and niece, Teri Jo (Anthony) Maxwell; along with other relatives and many friends. Kathy will be missed each and every day.
A celebration of life for Kathy Jean Richardson will be held at Schell City Christian Church at 12 p.m. Saturday, April 22, 2023, under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.
