Kenneth Edward Hazelrigg, 76, Stockton, passed away unexpectedly on April 13, 2023, at home.

Kenneth was born Sept. 4, 1946 in Kansas City. He grew up in Independence, and graduated in 1964 from William Chrisman High School. It was there that he met his life-long best friend Albert Frisby. After high school he worked a number of jobs and spent the majority of his life working as a self-employed carpenter. There was not much Ken could not do or fix.

On Aug. 31,1974 he married Barbara Hazelrigg and together they shared 48 years of marriage. They lived in Independence until 1994 when they relocated to a farm in the Blackjack area in between El Dorado Springs and Stockton.

Ken never knew a stranger and would talk to anyone. He loved to joke around with everyone he met. Ken loved his family and loved spending time with them. He especially loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and spending time with them on the family farm.

Kenneth is survived by four sisters and one brother; his wife, Barbara Hazelrigg; daughters, Dawn Higbe, and husband, Ed, of Kansas City, Michelle Jackson and her wife, Terry, of Stockton, Abby Buck of Girard, KS, Kim Cox of El Dorado Springs, and Brigette Bardwell of Stockton; grandchildren, Cameron Higbe, Tabitha Draper, Christopher Graham, Elizabeth Graham, Samantha Cox, Cortney Bardwell, Kaylen Bardwell, McKenzie Bardwell, Dante Williams and Treyson Williams; great-grandchildren, Kiya Virnig, Izadora Virnig, Sylias Bardwell, Ellary Owens and Raya Lora.

He was preceded in death by his biological and adopted parents and several brothers and sisters.

Cremation services are under the care of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home of El Dorado Springs. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 22, at the Blackjack Church of God (Holiness) recreational building. A brief memorial service will begin at 2 p.m. followed by a visitation from 2:30 to 4 p.m.
