Larry Wayne Henry was born to Lee and Effie Henry on April 23, 1958. He was the youngest child of five children. He was born at the Nevada Regional Medical Center in Nevada.
Larry spent his young years in the Olympia and Montevallo area. Larry loved to play hunting with his toy gun and dog. He would wander for hours around the farm in Montevallo under his mother’s watchful eye from the upstairs window.
Larry attended the El Dorado Springs C.P. Center for many years and the Hazeldell Missionary Baptist Church along with his family.
Lee and Effie moved from Montevallo to El Dorado springs in 1973 for retirement. Larry still enjoyed coming to the farm to see the cows, and his brother Kent even took him on a motorcycle ride.
When Larry was 30 years old, with Lee’s failing health and Effie’s cancer treatments, Larry went to live with Freta and Andy Gonzales, who opened their loving arms. Freta loved and spoiled Larry as much as he was by his mother.
Larry loved to go for rides to get milkshakes and red pop. He loved music and would play the record player and radio for hours. He always enjoyed family and small animals. Freta made him a slideshow of his family he would watch for hours. Andy and Freta had a 60th birthday party for Larry with family and friends. One special person in Harry’s life was Macey, who could always make him smile.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Effie Henry, and a brother-in-law Norman Highley, who always gave him Dutch rub.
Larry is survived by his sister Joyce Highley, brother Dean and wife Barbara Henry, brother Vernal and wife Sharyl Henry, brother Kent and wife Bonnie Henry, Frida and Andy Gonzales, many nephews and nieces, and other family and friends.
Service for Larry Henry was graveside Thursday, Sept. 1, at 2 p.m. at Sandridge Cemetery. Visitation was Wednesday, Aug. 31, at Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.
