Nannie Marie (Floyd) Fugate was born on May 31, 1925, and passed away August 28, 2022, at Community Springs Nursing Home in El Dorado Springs. She was born to John Walker and Virgie Marsh Floyd in Pittsburg. She was one of ten children and she loved to play and have fun with her brothers and sisters.
On Sept. 21, 1943, she married the love of her life Sigle Sherman Fugate in Bolivar. They lived in several different places, but settled in El Dorado Springs for many years. Sigle passed away April 8, 2001.
They had three daughters and mother loved her girls. She never would let them grow up without her telling them what to do. She always wanted them to be little girls.
Nannie worked in the kitchen at El Dorado Springs School and Cedar County Memorial Hospital. She was a long-time member of the First Christian Church. She always cooked for anyone who came to her house and kept a clean house.
She is preceded in death by her husband; infant daughter, Linda Kay; three brothers; five sisters; her parents; son-in-law, Fayhon, and her great-granddaughter, Bethany Walker.
She is survived by her daughters, Cheryel Griggs, and Brenda (Ron) Davis; sister, Glenda Bandy; grandchildren, Sherman Worthington, Melinda (Rick) Pipen, Lori (Randy) Leechy, Melisa Stephens, Gina (Jonathan) McBride and Chris Griggs; ten great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Service for Nannie Fugate was Wednesday, Aug. 31, at Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home with interment at Antioch Cemetery in Pittsburg. Visitation was Tuesday, Aug. 30, at Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.
