Lois E (Stires) Robison, 102, passed from this world into the arms of her Savior on Aug. 4th, 2022, at The Barone Alzheimer’s Care Center, Nevada. Lois was born July 17, 1920 in Wichita, KS to Charles Stires and Deloris (Lickey) Stires. She, along with her five siblings, was raised in Wichita. As a result of being a child during the “Roaring Twenties” and experiencing the hardships of the “Great Depression” of the Thirties, she developed into a strong, resilient woman.
During the summer of 1940, she met Earl Robison and they fell in love. Two weeks later, on June 9, 1940, they were married. They were together for the next 53 years, until Earl’s passing in 1993. Six children were born to this union: Dennis Earl, Sharron Kay, Gary Wayne, Lyna Sue, Gale Dean and an infant son, Darrel Ishimal, who is buried in Wichita, KS.
During her early years of marriage, the family moved many times between Chanute, KS, California, Nevada, Missouri and El Dorado Springs, depending on where the jobs led Earl. Lois spent the majority of her life caring for her home, husband and children. She was a devoted wife and very loving, nurturing Momma and Grandma, bringing her children up in the faith of her Lord Jesus, giving them a solid Christian foundation. She attended the Church of God (Holiness) in El Dorado Springs for many years.
Lois was a quiet woman; content to sit in the background of conversation, however her presence within her family was powerful. Aside from being a homemaker, she enjoyed working at Witt’s Printing Company in El Dorado Springs during the 1960’s. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, quilting, working in their apple orchard, raising Pekinese puppies, mowing her yard and traveling to see her grown children. She remained very active until she was in her 90’s. She lived mostly independently until 2019, when she developed Dementia and moved into The Barone Center, where she was cared for and loved until her death.
Lois is survived by her children, Dennis, Grand View, ID, Sharron Knutson and husband, Ron, Nevada, Gary and wife, Carolyn, Sand Springs, OK, Lyna Gilbert, Blue Springs, Gale, Nevada; 16 grandchildren; three step grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; five step great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant son, and her siblings. She leaves a long legacy and will be greatly missed.
Visitation was from 6-7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 11, at Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home. Service will begin at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12, at Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest at Tennessee Chapel Cemetery, Cedar County.
