Rebecca Ann Spencer, 71, was born Nov. 24, 1950, in El Dorado Springs, to Albert and Minnie (Litle) Spencer. She passed away Sunday, Aug. 7, 2022, at Nathan Richard Health Care Center in Nevada.
Rebecca was the oldest of five girls born to the Spencer family. Rebecca, as the oldest, was always the boss of her sisters and liked to have control of everything they did. Rebecca was a good student and a member of the honor society and graduated with honors. Rebecca attended Sulphur Springs Baptist Church with her family and was baptized at the age of 13. After graduation, she moved to Independence, and worked as a typist at a large insurance company for one year. After returning to ElDo, she worked at Tina’s Floral Shop and then Witt Printing until she met and married Wilbern Schmidt on Sept. 4, 1971, and then moved to Archie. To this union, their only child, Julie Rebecca, was born Feb. 17, 1972. Becky was a loving mother and grandmother. Becky had a loving heart for everyone that she came in contact with, and she loved to give lavish gifts to all. She was especially fond of the time when her daughter and two oldest grandchildren lived with her and her legacy lives on in them.
Becky is survived by her daughter, Julie Schmidt Mowen; grandchildren, Levi Patton, Keeton Zaharsky, Brianna Zaharsky, Zoey Mowen and Randy Mowen; great-grandchildren, Caleb and Aaliyah Gunn; sisters, Lena Gayman, Alice (Don) Garber and Nancy Spencer. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Minnie Spencer, and her sister, Martha Grider.
We would like to say a special thank you to the staff at Nathan Richard for the loving care they provided our sister, especially nurse Anna, receptionist, Christina, and Megan the activity director and all the staff went above and beyond their call of duty to provide her the best of care. We will be forever grateful to them.
