Robert Earl Yockey, 86, passed away Jan. 3, 2023, in Buffalo. He was born June 2, 1936, in El Dorado Springs, to Bassett Earl Yockey and Violet Marie Austin.

Robert grew up on a farm with three brothers and a sister. He loved his only sister Gladys dearly and referred to her always as his “sweet sis.” He, along with his brothers, each had a horse, and they would play cowboys for hours.

Robert dropped out of school after the eighth grade due to health issues. He went on to work at the gas station, Witt Printing, Shoe Factory and then finally opened his own used car lot in 1978. He retired from the car lot in 1990.

He attended the Church of God Holiness Church for most of his life.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Nellie Mae (Eslinger) Yockey, and his daughter Judy Kaye Cornell.

Robert is survived by his son, Jerry Dean (Betty Jean) Yockey; grandchildren, Jeremy Dean Yockey, Crystal Dawn (James Todd) Blankenship, Matthew Brandon (Brittany) Yockey, Justin Lee (Jackie) Cornell, and Darren Wayne (Jamie) Cornell; great-grandchildren, Sean Xavier Yockey, Haleigh Elaine Yockey, Emma Grace Yockey, Maia Elise Blankenship, James Rylan Blankenship, Adien Blankenship, Ellara Jean Blankenship, Silas Judah Blankenship, Morgan Blankenship, Colten Brook Yockey, Kayden Nichole Yockey, Madysen Skye Weeks, Gracelyn Brooke Weeks, Kaylee Cornell, Ean Cornell, Elijah Cornell and Gabriel Cornell; and sister, Gladys Coleman.

Services for Robert Yockey was held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 9, at Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home with burial at Clintonville Cemetery.
