Ronald (Ron) Howard Howell was born on May 26, 1952, in Lebanon to Howard Arthur Howell and Nadine (Brakebill) Curry and passed away on Feb. 13, 2024. He was Howard and Nadine’s oldest son.

The family moved to El Dorado Springs around his 6th grade year. In 1971 he graduated from El Dorado Springs High School. After graduation he worked many different jobs, one of which was for the Bureau of Land Management’s Cadastral Survey Organization in the state of Colorado. His name can be found among the almost 200 others listed on the granite memorial in the El Dorado Springs City Park.

From there he moved back to El Dorado Springs working odd jobs until he was hired at 3M in Nevada. He worked for the company 40 years before retiring in 2015. 3M is where he met his sweetheart, Yvonne Gannaway, and married her a short six months later, on Dec. 9, 1978. They recently celebrated their 45 Anniversary.  From this union two children were born, Holly and Adam.

Ron was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed both hunting and fishing. He competed and placed in many fishing tournaments and always kept the freezer full of wild game and waterfowl.

Ron never knew a stranger and could bend your ear with a colorful story about his many experiences.

Ron and Yvonne enjoyed “tootling” around on local country roads and is how they have spent their retirement years.

Ron is survived by his wife, Yvonne (Gannaway) Howell – Walker; two children, Holly (Howell) Murdock (Jason Douglas, son in-law) and Adam Howell; sister, Carolyn (Howell) Whitesell (K.Lee Whitesell, brother-in-law); grandchildren, Kennedi Murdock, Brooke Murdock and Tyler Murdock; several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father; step father, Jim Curry, and two brothers, Gary Howell and Larry Howell.
