Ruth Alice (Maino) Scott, 96, De Soto, KS, passed away Saturday, May 1, 2021, at Hillside Village of De Soto in the presence of her family. She was born Feb. 12, 1925, in New Bedford, MA, the daughter of Alberto and Carolina Maino. She married Herschel (Scotty) L. Scott on Feb. 3, 1946.

After high school, Ruth began work at an insurance agency in New Bedford. After her marriage to Scotty, the couple settled in El Dorado Springs and opened an appliance store.  Later they ran two coin operated laundries in El Dorado Springs and one in Buffalo. Ruth was the first treasurer and past president of the Progress Club. She served as Treasurer of the El Dorado Springs Methodist Church and the Great Oaks Country Club. During her retirement she spent most of her free time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed attending the many sporting events and activities to support her grandchildren as well as her great-grandchildren.  She and Scotty enjoyed their annual trips to Texas to avoid the cold Missouri winters. In her later years, she enjoyed reminiscing about growing up on the East Coast, seeing Frank Sinatra sing live and her favorite lighthouse, Butler Flats.

She is survived by her three grandchildren and their spouses: Alicia and John Hansen, Alex and Lisa Budd, Louisa and Sean Ritchlin; and seven great-grandchildren: Fallon and Tristen Smith, Gracyn Budd, Jacob and George Hansen, William and Katarina Ritchlin.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Scotty, daughter, Kathryn Budd, and many other beloved family members.

A private family service is being planned in the near future.
