Vera Nadine Mogan, 91, passed away Feb.y 9, 2022, at Citizens Memorial Hospital in Bolivar. She was born on Jan. 16, 1931, to Henry A. and Elizabeth Lovewell. Vera married Richard Barrett and they were blessed with a daughter, Beverly. On Dec. 5, 1953, Vera married Darrell Burt Mogan in Kansas City.

Vera worked at the “Diner” as a waitress when she was a teenager and was affectionately referred to as “Diner” by her brothers and sisters (the diner was located where Casey’s is now). Vera’s love was her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her home was the gathering place for not only her children, but many of the neighborhood children as well. She loved raising a huge garden and canning the fruits and vegetables to give away to everyone. Her favorite bird was the Cardinal. She loved to sit on the porch and watch the birds.

Vera was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Elizabeth Lovewell; two half sisters, Blanche Lovewell, and Florence Witt; two half brothers, Oliver Lovewell, and Frank Albert Lovewell; brothers, Harvey Lovewell, William Henry (Bill) Lovewell, Freddie Lovwell; sisters, Nellie Melton, and Lillie Lovewell; grandson, Andrew Vessey; husband, Darrell B. Mogan on Feb. 20, 1984, and daughter, Edna Marie Still on June 20, 2008.

Vera is survived by her children, Beverly (husband, Mark) Vogele, Ronald L. Mogan, Sharen K. Mogan, Carolyn Sue Vessey, Darrel Ray (wife, Judi) Mogan and Gerald W. Mogan; brother, Jim (Jean) Lovewell; sisters, Erma Lovewell, and Rosie Floyd; 13 grandchildren and 30 plus great-grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews and many other family members and friends who will miss her greatly.

Services were held Monday, Feb. 14, at Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home. Burial at El Dorado Spring Cemetery.
