Register online by Oct. 16 for this unique nature hike guided by MDC Forester Angela George and Wildlife Biologist Tracey Prenger.

The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) invites women and girls age 14-years and older to join MDC Forester Angela George and Wildlife Biologist Tracy Prenger on a unique, guided nature hike at Danville Conservation Area in Montgomery County on Oct. 17, 10 a.m.–2 p.m.

Participants will hike 1.5 miles through a portion of the 3,100-acre conservation area, partially on established trails, and partially off-trail through natural vegetation to access views not often seen by visitors.

Hikers will learn key features of the trails, discuss animals and plants commonly encountered at the area, how forest and woodland ecosystems work, and management efforts that have improved habitat and overall beauty of the area.

“Danville Conservation Area is located where the rugged woods of the Missouri River Hills meet the prairies to the north, and is home to unique and beautiful natural features,” said George. “Fall colors should be near peak on the day of the hike.”

Space is limited for this unique opportunity to experience Danville Conservation Area in all it’s autumn splendor. Registration is required online at: mdc-event-web.s3licensing.com/Event/EventDetails/180206.

This program is free and open to all women age 14-years and older, but girls 14–17 years old must be accompanied by a registered adult participant. Hikers should wear long pants and sturdy shoes, dress for the weather, and bring their own drinking water, lunch or a snack, and binoculars, if they wish.

All participants must practice physical distancing and wear a mask covering their mouth and nose when maintaining physical distance is not possible.

Program registrants now have the option to link their children’s accounts to their own, which will streamline the program registration process. Once registrants have set up an account, parents can register their children for events without having to logout and login for each family member. This allows parents to register an entire family or select family members for an event at the same time.
