Conference call with Jason Sivils, Great River Engineering
Commission inquired whether the bridge paperwork that was submitted about 7 weeks ago was being moved on by MODOT; Sivils believes this is being delayed because the state is in the process of organizing the committee to start approving bridge projects. There has been mixed information from the state on how many commissioners will be representing the counties on this new committee.
Met with Sheridan Garman-Neeman, Kaysinger Basin Regional Planning Commission
Discussed hazard mitigation plan renewal. County should not have to pay any money out on this but does have match cost.
Motion by Anderson to approve signing the hazard mitigation plan renewal project, second by Boultinghouse. Anderson – Yes; Boultinghouse – Yes; Collins – Yes
Need to decide how many bridges commission want assistance with for the MPDG grant? Due by May 2023. MPDG grant is separate from BRO projects, so county cannot request same bridges for MPDG. Garman is hoping to put together a very large application from this region as opposed to individual by county.
MODOT has not kept regional planning commissions in the loop on the new BRO approval process. Highway 32 did end up in the list to expand the shoulders due to the increase in tourist traffic; boat trailer widths and semi tractor trailers are a big concern today.
Conference call with Julie Zeibert, MODOT
A meeting was held June 3, 2022 with MODOT, Bridge Formula Program(BFP) funds will be included on bridge funding, along with BRO funds, therefore making a lower match than the regular 20%. June 13, 2022 will go to bid. Zeibert will send a link for us to be able to check our current BRO fund balance, but the page is not currently working. Each regional bridge committee will hold an annual meeting to score all apps. Anticipate 10 planning partners plus MODOT, 1 RPC rep, 1 Area Engineer, 1 District Bridge Engineer, 1 Design Division, 1 to 2 County Commissioner from each RPC, 1 staff member from each MPR, 1 local MPR representative. Turkey Creek Bridge project will be tabled until the MODOT committee is organized and the application is processed.
