The Cedar County Commission met September 26, 2022. Present were: Marlon Collins, Presiding Commissioner; Don Boultinghouse, Northern Commissioner; Ted Anderson, Southern Commissioner; Heather York, County Clerk.

Met with Chad Pyle, Assessor

Requests to process court order #27922-27931 to add-on the assessed valuation of newly purchased personal property.

Met with Treasurer Peggy Kenney

Received Flood Control funding $2,335.06, CFDA #12.112.

Discussed information gained at treasurer training.  Discussed whether we should increase treasurer bond from $4 million; commission to not plan to increase the bond.

Met with Sheriff McCrary

Commission approved giving a raise to Carla Lowe for taking on the $.40 retro back to letters for taking on the Jail Administrator position.

The Cedar County Commission will hold public hearings to discuss the Prescription Drug Monitoring Program before adopting a county ordinance.  The public hearings have been set for October 13th, at 7:00 p.m. at Evan’s Drug in El Dorado Springs, and for October 18th, at 7:00 p.m. at the Cedar County Courthouse 2nd floor Courtroom in Stockton.

Discussed whether to put a burn ban back on this week as the most western side of the county is in extreme drought.  Contacted Arlo Rupke, Cedar County Emergency Manager, and El Dorado Springs Fire Protection District, commission will wait until next week to discuss again.

Commissioner Collins attended a hearing held on SB391 last week.  Discussed events of the SB391 hearing last week.  Rebuttals were given, but no decision was made, nor an estimate of time for the decision.   

Conference call with NROUTE to discuss communications with the upgrade to the MOSWIN Radio System.  There have been shipping challenges with Motorola, batteries will be a bit of a challenge, if ordering today, would likely be in around spring 2023.  There is a price increase coming up the end of October so a decision would need to be made before then.

Prepared letter of purchase in the amount of $366,934.79 with ARPA funding for MOSWIN radios and communications equipment for the Sheriff’s Office.

Discussed too much rock in windrows again.  Will discuss with DJ next week.

Cedar Hall Special Road Commissioner, Tom Lewis stopped in to discuss a culvert replacement on west end of CR2100.  It currently has a 60” culvert by around 27’ installed with the bottom rusted out through most of it and the other half is folded up underneath.  DJ will try to check out the culvert this week.
