In the case of all arrests, it must be remembered that the charge is merely an accusation and all defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

Law enforcement activities

The El Dorado Springs Police Department responded to 70 requests for assistance this past week, Feb. 27-March 5. The requests were as follows:

Ambulance Assists 5, Animal Control 8, Assist Other Agencies 7, All Escorts 0, Nuisance 4, All Other Requests for Assistance 46, Summons 3.

Animal Control

Anyone interested in adopting  animals from the City Pound should contact Officer Richards, animal control officer at 876-2313.

Found Property is available for viewing, Monday through Saturday, by appointment only. A detailed description of the property you’re wishing to view must be specified when making the appointment. Found Property is subject to disposal after 90 days based on value of the property if unclaimed by owner.

Police Report

On February 27, 2023 officers responded to 800 North Main, Apartment 24, concerning a larceny. The investigation revealed the theft of U.S. Currency. A report taken and the investigation continues.

On February 28, 2023, officers responded to 100 South Main Street, City Park, concerning property damage. The investigation resulted in the arrest of Christopher L. Jones, 41, of Sheldon, charging him with Property Damage and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was released on summonses pending a court appearance.

On March 2, 2023, officers arrested Santiago Martinez, 36, of El Dorado Springs, for a Cedar County Warrant, charging him with Failure to Appear on the original charges of Moving Traffic Violation with a $500.00 cash bond. He was released on bond pending a court appearance.

On March 2, 2023, officers responded to 1300 South First Street concerning a larceny. The investigation revealed the theft of US Currency from a misplaced wallet. A report taken and the investigation continues.

On March 3, 2023, officers responded to 426 West Martin Street concerning a reported trespassing and strong arm robbery.  A report taken and the investigation continues.

On March 3, 2023, officers arrested Dakota M Herndon, 21, of El Dorado Springs, for a Cedar County Warrant, charging him with Shoplifting with a $131.50 bond. He was transported to Cedar County Jail pending bond and a court appearance.

On March 4, 2023, Officers responded to 509 North Jackson concerning tampering with a motor vehicle. The investigation an ATV was tamper with. The investigation resulted in a juvenile suspect identified and referred to the Juvenile Office.

On March 4, 2023, officers responded to 312 US 54 Highway, Woods Supermarket, concerning a reported shoplifting. A report taken and the investigation continues.

On March 4, 2023, officers arrested Tasha F Storandt, of El Dorado Springs, for the probable cause of Driving While Revoked. She was released on summons pending a court appearance.

On March 5, 2023, officers responded to the area of South Jackson and West Poplar Streets concerning a leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident. A suspect has been identified and the investigation continues.
