In the case of all arrests, it must be remembered that the charge is merely an accusation and all defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

Feb 20 – Officers responded to 308 West Hightower concerning a reported assault. A suspect has been identifiedand the investigation continues.

Officers responded to 115 West Spring, Rumors Tavern; concerning an attempt to pass counterfeit 100 dollar bill.  A suspect was identified and the investigation continues.

Feb 22 – Arrest: Boyd T. Culbertson, 22, Kissee Mills, for an active Municipal Warrant, charging him with failed to appear per court rder with a bond of $1,511.75. He was transferred to the Vernon County jail pending bond and a court appearance.

Officers responded to 117 West Patricia concerning a reported larceny. The investigation revealed the theft of a small propane tank for a gas grill.  A report was taken and the investigation continues.

Officers of the El Dorado Springs Police Department assisted by deputies of the Cedar County Sheriff’s office and a St. Clair County Sheriff’s K-9 Unit served a search warrant at 308 South Ohio, after receiving information concerning illegal drug activity and the presence of a fugitive from justice. Evidence of illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia were located. The investigation resulted in the arrests of Michael O. Gilbert, 34, El Dorado Springs, for an active probation violation Warrant,  on the original charges of two counts of statutory rape; Nicholas L. Brandell, 28, of El Dorado Springs, charging him with unlawful possession of a concealed weapon; Brandon J. Marriott, 33, of El Dorado Springs, charging him with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia; and Stefanie M. Meek, 35, of Jerico Springs, charging her with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Gilbert was transferred to the Cedar County jail pending a court appearance. Brandell, Marriott and Meeks were released on summonses pending a court appearance. Additional charges are expected in this case.

Officers of the El Dorado Springs Police Department assisted by Cedar County deputies and St. Clair County Sheriff’s K-9 unit served a search warrant for illegal drugs at 108 East Joe Davis, after receiving information of illegal drug activity. Evidence of illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia were located. The investigation resulted in the arrest of John D. Donahue, 32, of El Dorado Springs, for an active El Dorado Springs Municipal warrant for failure to appear on the original charges of resisting arrest, assault on officer and possession of drug paraphernalia with a bond of $902.50.  Officers also arrested him for the probable cause of possession of a controlled Substance, keeping and maintaining a public nuisance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Officers completed a probable cause statement for these charges. Officers received a Cedar County warrant charging Donahue with controlled Substance and possession of drug paraphernalia with a bond $5,000.

Feb 23 – after a foot pursuit that lasted for three blocks, officers arrested Corey D. Brown, 37, of El Dorado Springs, for three active Cedar County felony warrants,  charging him with Failure to Appear on the original charge of domestic assault 2nd degree, robbery 1st degree, and armed criminal action with no bond,  a warrant charging him with failure to appear to two counts of domestic assault 2nd degree with no bond, and a warrant charging him with kdnapping 1st degree, domestic assault 2nd degree and resisting arrest for a felony with no bond. He was transferred to the Cedar County jail pending a court appearance.  Officers completed a probable cause statement for resisting arrest.

Officers responded to 1103 South Jackson concerning a reported larceny. The investigation revealed the theft of a 9mm handgun. The firearm was later recovered. A suspect was identified and the investigation continues.

Arrest: Shane P. Stone, 20, of El Dorado Springs, for a Cedar County warrant charging him with failure to register as a sex offender with a $5,000 bond. He was transferred to the Cedar County jail pending bond and a court appearance.
