St. Clair County Commission met Monday, Aug. 22, with Presiding Commissioner Robert Salmon, Northern District Commissioner Leroy Strope and Southern District Commissioner Gerald Williams present.

Commissioner Williams reported meeting Dean Bossert, U.S. Fish and Wildlife, regarding pipe installation for a parking lot on SW 51 Rd.

The Commission received a notice that Kaysinger Basin Regional Planning is hosting an economic development training session on Sept. 22, at the Optimist building from 1 to 4 p.m.

The Commission signed a letter of support for a grant application for West Central Missouri Community Action Agency.

Commission met Wednesday, Aug. 24, with all present.

Commissioner Strope made a motion to approve and sign Certified Copy of Order of Tax Sale 2015 Over Plus redeemed by Steven Collins to fulfill the redemption process for Cecil Shehorn and Gene Taylor. Motion carried.

CART Revenues received were $56,368.63. $40,482.02 was the portion going to Common Road District. (These funds are allocated per mile of road and are received monthly).

Appleton City $2,808.23; Chloe Special $1,845.42; Collins Special $3,610.59; Hillsdale Special $1,845.42; Osceola Special $2,968.71; Vista Special $2,808.24.

A Public Hearing to set Tax Levies for 2016 was held at 10 a.m. After discussion, Commissioner Strope made a motion to set Tax Levies for 2016 Tax Year at:

General Revenue – .3242 per one hundred dollar assessed valuation

Common Road Dist. #1 – .3200 per one hundred dollar assessed valuation

County Road and Bridge – .2803 per one hundred dollar assessed valuation

Commissioner Williams seconded the motion. Motion carried.

General Revenue Current Tax Rate Ceiling = .4735

Less Required Sales Tax Reduction  .1493. Tax Rate to be Levied    .3242. The 2015 General Revenue Tax Levy was      .3258

The Commission discussed the installation of sidewalks for the Courthouse yard.

Repair on the Courthouse roof was discussed with a representative of Flynn Midwest.

Road and Bridge Supervisor Cole Cochran and the Commission discussed road signs, dump truck, equipment, gravel, road grading and culverts.

The Commission made an appointment for Sept. 7, 2016, to leave the office at 10:30 a.m. in order to meet with engineers to view bridge sites in the Tiffin area and Lowry City area.

The Commission spoke with Sheriff Scott Keeler regarding an insurance payment received for lightning damage to a radio repeater.

At 10 a.m. bids were opened on computer software update for payroll and financial programs. One bid was received from Tyler Technologies. The Commission and County Clerk Debbie Peden are reviewing the proposal.

The Commission and Road and Bridge Supervisor Cole Cochran discussed mowing, roads and conditions, equipment repairs, culvert and installation.

As the supply on Plat Books is getting low, consensus was to order 50 books.

The Commission called Viebrock Sales and Service regarding prices on custom length pipe.

The Commission and County Clerk Debbie Peden met with Mike Keith Insurance Representative Jeanie Cunningham and Sherrie Haverstick. A mid-year report on employee health insurance was presented and discussed.
