ST. CLAIR COUNTY SHERIFF

Sheriff Scott Keeler reported deputies made 14 arrests and took a property damage report during the week of April 28 through May 5, 2020.

Warrant Arrests

Jonathon Ward- On May 5, Jonathon Ward, 37, unknown, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant charging him with a class B felony assault in the second degree-special victim, a class D felony tampering with a motor vehicle in the first degree, a class D felony possession of a controlled substance, a class E felony resisting arrest/detention/stop by fleeing-creating a substantial risk of serious injury/death to any person, a class A misdemeanor driving while revoked/suspended-second or third offense. Total bond is set at $10,000 cash or surety.

The warrant comes after St. Clair County deputies were dispatched to the area of Highway 13 in reference to a stolen vehicle out of Henry County. A deputy made contact with the vehicle and the driver, later identified as Ward, refused to stop for the deputy. Ward failed to yield to deputies and continued northbound on Highway 13 into Henry County. St. Clair County Deputies along with Henry County deputies, Clinton Police Department and the Missouri State Highway Patrol finally got the vehicle stopped at Highway 13 and Highway 7 in Clinton.

Ward was taken into custody without further incident. While Ward was being searched he stated there were syringes and marijuana in the vehicle. The vehicle was searched and the marijuana and four syringes were recovered. One of the syringes did field test positive for methamphetamine.

Anthony Summers- On May 5, Anthony Summers, 35, Blue Springs, was arrested by a St. Clair County deputy on class A misdemeanor tampering with a motor vehicle in the second degree. Summers was booked and released pending formal charges.

The arrest comes after Summers exited a stolen vehicle during a failure to yield.

Amy Leal- On May 5, Amy Leal, 30, Lebanon, was arrested by a St. Clair County deputy on class A misdemeanor tampering with a motor vehicle in the second degree. Leal was booked and released pending formal charges.

The arrest comes after Leal exited a stolen vehicle during a failure to yield.

Michael Mejia- On May 4, Michael Mejia, 57, Kansas City, KS, was arrested by a St. Clair County deputy on a class E felony resisting arrest/interfering with an arrest for a felony and a class E felony driving while revoked/suspended. Mejia was placed on a 24 hour hold pending formal charges.

The arrest comes after a St. Clair County deputy performed a traffic stop on the vehicle Mejia was driving for a moving violation. The deputy observed the vehicle speeding and turned on his lights and sirens. Mejia failed to yield to the deputy.

Mejia refused to yield to deputies and state troopers through multiple counties. Mejia’s vehicle was finally spiked and came to a stop on Highway 7.

Shawn Brune- On May 4, Shawn Brune, 45, Lindsay, OK, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant charging him with a class D felony possession of a controlled substance. Bond is set at $10,000 cash or surety.

The warrant comes after St. Clair County deputies were dispatched to SW 831 Road in reference to threats. Upon arrival, the deputies made contact with the property owner. After getting consent to search the bedroom, a mirror was located with a crystal like substance on it along with two loaded syringes and a modified item to smoke methamphetamine.

Jessica Donald- On May 4, Jessica Donald, 32, Leavenworth, KS, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant charging her with a class D felony possession of a controlled substance. Bond is set at $7,500 cash or surety.

The warrant comes after St. Clair County deputies were dispatched to SW 831 Road in reference to threats. Upon arrival, the deputies made contact with the property owner. The deputies could see people inside the house through the front door.

While conducting the investigation, two subjects had run out the back door and were trying to flee the scene. Both subjects, later identified as Donald and a male juvenile, complied with the order to stop and returned to the residence.

Patricia Perkins- On May 4, Patricia Perkins, 34, El Dorado Springs, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant charging her with a class D felony possession of a controlled substance. Bond is set at $5,000 cash or surety.

The warrant comes after St. Clair County deputies were dispatched to a residence on SW 831 Road in reference threats. Upon arrival, the deputies made contact Perkins’ mother who stated she was being threatened by Perkins and her boyfriend. The deputies asked for and were granted consent to search the residence by the property owner. During the search of Perkins’ bedroom modified smoking devices were located along with two loaded syringes and a mirror with a white crystal like substance on it.

Robert Cullen- On May 3, Robert Cullen, 63, St. Louis, was arrested by a St. Clair County deputy on a class D felony unlawful possession of a firearm and a class A misdemeanor driving while intoxicated-prior offense. Cullen was booked and released pending formal charges.

The arrest comes after a St. Clair County deputy performed a traffic stop on the vehicle Cullen was driving for a non-moving violation. Upon contact with the driver, the deputy could smell the odor of intoxicants coming from the vehicle.

The deputy performed a field sobriety test on Cullen and he failed. Cullen was asked to provide a breath sample for analysis. The test showed Cullen had a blood alcohol concentration of .128.

Alicia Hancock- On May 3, Alicia Hancock, 31, Wheatland, was arrested by a St. Clair County deputy on a class D felony possession of a controlled substance and a class D misdemeanor unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Hancock was booked and released pending formal charges.

The arrest comes after the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office and the Mid Missouri Drug Task Force performed a search warrant on the residence in Collins. During the search, used syringes were located along with multiple plastic bags that had a crystal like residue inside.

Hancock was located in Hickory County. When contacted was made with her, Hancock gave consent for deputies and Drug Task Force consent to search her vehicle. During the search, three plastic bags were located that contained a crystal like residue. The bags did field test positive for methamphetamine.

Valerie Newman- On May 3, Valerie Newman, 56, Collins, was arrested by a St. Clair County deputy on a class D felony possession of a controlled substance. Newman was booked and released pending formal charges.

The arrest comes after the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office and the Mid Missouri Drug Task Force conducted a search warrant on a residence in Collins. During the search in Newman’s bedroom, prescription pills were located. The pills are a schedule four controlled substance and Newman did not have a current prescription for said pills.

Valerie Newman- On May 2, Valerie Newman, 56, Collins, was arrested by a St. Clair County deputy on a class D felony possession of a controlled substance, a class E felony resisting/interfering with an arrest for a felony, a class A misdemeanor assault in the fourth degree-special victim, and a class D misdemeanor unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Newman was booked and released pending formal charges.

The arrest comes after a St. Clair County deputy observed Newman in Smith’s Restaurant parking lot while on patrol. The deputy observed some abnormal behavior from Newman and checked on her. While conducting their investigation the deputy asked for and was given consent by Newman to search her bag. The deputy told Newman to sit on the ground while they searched her bag. Once seated, Newman attempted to grab the deputy then got up and ran. The deputy gained control over Newman and placed her under arrest.

Newman had an eyeglass case on her person that contained a glass pipe. Also located was a pill bottle that had a plastic bag. The bag contained a crystal like residue that field tested positive for methamphetamine.

Jasmine Goodjoint- On May 1, Jasmine Goodjoint, 27, Springfield, was arrested on two St. Clair County warrants charging her with a class D misdemeanor no insurance and a class D misdemeanor no driver’s license. Total bond is set at $513.50 cash only.

Both warrants stem from a traffic stop by the Missouri State Highway Patrol in February of 2018.

Tony Meads- On April 30, Tony Meads, 23, Springfield, was arrested by a St. Clair County deputy on a class D misdemeanor possession of marijuana/synthetic cannabinoid of 10 grams or less and a class D misdemeanor unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Meads was booked and released pending formal charges.

The arrest comes after the vehicle Meads was a passenger in was stopped for a moving violation. During conversation with the driver and passengers, the deputies could smell the odor of marijuana. During a search of the vehicle a bag was located that Meads admitted was his. Inside the bag two containers were located that contained marijuana.

Christopher Mood- On April 30, Christopher Mood, 37, Osceola, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant charging him with a probation violation on an original class D felony domestic assault in the third degree. Bond is set at $2,500 cash only.

The original charge stems from an investigation by the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office into a domestic disturbance where Mood struck the victim in the back of the head with a baseball bat in December of 2017.

Damage to Property in Lowry City

On April 30, a St. Clair County deputy was dispatched to Shelby’s Truck Stop in reference to property damage. Upon arrival, the deputy spoke with a store manager. The manager stated an employee had torn out some emergency lights in the men’s restroom.

The deputy made contact with the store owner Joyce Shelby. Shelby stated while reviewing camera video she observed the store employee taking money out of the safe. Shelby stated she also viewed the employee taking alcohol out of the cooler. The empty containers were located in the store’s dumpster.
