ST. CLAIR COUNTY SHERIFF

Sheriff Scott Keeler reported deputies made six arrests and took two stealing reports during the week of Aug. 20-24, 2018.

Warrant Arrest

Misty Bennink- On Aug. 23, Misty Bennink, 37, Osceola, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant charging her with a probation revocation on original charges of a class C felony assault in the second degree on a law enforcement officer and a class A misdemeanor resisting arrest/detention/stop. Bond is set at $5,000 cash only.

The original charges stem from an investigation in the early morning hours Aug. 5, 2016, when a St. Clair County deputy responded to a call of a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot at Shelby’s, Lowry City. Contact was made with Bennink and she became belligerent and knocked a flashlight out the deputy’s hand. She made a fist and swung it in an attempt to assault the deputy. During the incident Bennink assaulted the deputy several times and refused directives given from the deputy. Pepper spray and a taser were both used to subdue Bennink.

Alonzo Powell III- On Aug. 23, Alonzo Powell III, 36, Springfield, was arrested by a St. Clair County deputy on a class A misdemeanor driving while revoked/suspended second or third offense. Powell was booked and released pending formal charges.

The arrest comes after a St. Clair County deputy pulled over the vehicle Powell was driving for a traffic violation. A records check showed Powell had previous driving suspensions.

Joseph Salinas- On Aug. 23, Joseph Salinas, 26, Idaho Falls, ID, was arrested by a St. Clair County deputy on a Henry County warrant for failure to appear in court on an original charge of a class D felony possession of a controlled substance. Bond is set at $500 cash only.

Nicholas Barber- On Aug. 22, Nicholas Barber, 26, Springfield, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant charging him with three ordinance charges for exceeding posted speed limit, failure to register motor vehicle, and no insurance. Total bond is set at $523.50 cash only.

The ordinance charges come from a traffic stop by the Osceola Police Department on March 2, 2017.

Sandra Cooley- On Aug. 22, Sandra Cooley, 50, Rolla, was arrested by a St. Clair County deputy on a class D felony possession of a controlled substance. Cooley was booked and released pending formal charges.

The arrest comes after a St. Clair County deputy had stopped a vehicle for traffic violations. As the deputy was approaching the vehicle, he noticed the female passenger, Cooley, moving around in a suspicious manner. The deputy spoke with the driver and advised him why he had stopped him.

The deputy asked if there was anything illegal in the vehicle. The driver stated no, and gave the deputy consent to search. During the search, the deputy found a small metal tin on the floor board of the passenger’s side, in front of where Cooley had been sitting. Cooley did admit the tin was hers. The tin had a white crystal like residue in it. The tin did field test positive for methamphetamine.

Heather Willmore- On Aug. 21, Heather Willmore, 32, El Dorado Springs, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant charging her with a class D felony possession of a controlled substance and a class A misdemeanor unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Bond is set at $20,000 cash only.

The arrest comes after St. Clair County deputies were advised of a careless and imprudent driver on Highway 13 on July 18, 2018. A search of the surrounding area revealed a car matching the description and license plates located at The Port Convenience Store. Deputies made contact with the driver and passenger of the vehicle, along with Willmore’s two children. The Department of Family Services was notified and the children were released to their father. A K9 unit did an exterior sniff test of the vehicle and alerted to the presence of narcotics. A search of the vehicle revealed a baggie with a white crystal like substance and a glass pipe. The white crystal substance field tested positive for methamphetamine. Willmore admitted the drugs and glass pipe to be hers.

Boat Stolen in Collins

On Aug. 23, a St. Clair County deputy was dispatched to SE 871 in Collins in reference to a stolen boat.

     Upon arrival the deputy spoke with Evert Wilkerson. Wilkerson stated he last saw his boat on Aug. 22. He noticed it was missing the next day.

The boat is a 24 foot Sun Tracker pontoon with a 115 HP Mercury Outboard motor sitting on top of a black trailer with white spoke wheels.

The deputy took photographs of the tire tracks at the scene.

Total estimated loss value is $8,300.

Theft in Osceola

     On Aug. 21, a St. Clair County deputy was dispatched to a residence on NE Highway 13 in reference to a theft.

Upon arrival, the deputy spoke with Rick Weaver. Weaver stated when his nephew moved out, several of his items went missing from his garage. He stated an electric cut off saw, an electric disc sander, and two electric winches were missing. The total estimated loss value is $706.

A suspect has been named.
