Members of the El Dorado Springs DECA chapter competed at DECA State Career Development Conference at Crown Center in Kansas City, Missouri on March 12-14. The eight DECA members were among the over 2,000 high school students and advisors who attended the conference. This year’s conference celebrated the 75 years that Missouri has been involved in DECA. While at the conference, the students had the opportunity to network with other DECA members from all over the state, hear an amazing keynote speech from Morris Morrison and compete in various Marketing events. Competing this year were Hannah Carpenter in Retail Merchandising, Leah Dunham in Quick Serve Restaurant Management, Juris Leroux in Entrepreneurship Innovation Plan, Alyssa Irvin in Professional Selling, Seth Christie and Brett Alexander in Marketing Management Team Decision Making, and Lauren Crowell and Kandon McGuirk in Financial Literacy Project.
The team of Crowell and McGuirk medaled placing in the top eight in their event. Crowell and McGuirk’s project dealt with the importance of saving as a high school/middle school student. We are extremely proud of all DECA’s accomplishments this year.
