The FFA Area Speaking Contest was held on Nov. 4, in Miller.

There were 75 speakers in total and the top three speakers in each category goes to districts. Each student had a 6-8 minute long speech in a pre-chosen category. These students are in Mrs. Chapman’s Ag Leadership class, and they are expected to at least compete at the Area level.

Two EHS students scored high enough to move on to district competition!  Carolyn Huff, 12 won 2nd place in Teach Ag category. Libby Toliver, 12 won 1st place in the Young Farmers and Young Farm Wives category. Hannah Klaiber, 11 also scored high enough to qualify as an alternate in the Cattleman’s category.

Garrett Klaiber, 11, also participated in the Cattleman’s category. Weston Wyrick, 11, spoke about the Missouri Pork Association. Sydney Barger, 12, competed in the Pet Breeder’s category. Reese Schiereck, 11, competed in the Teach Ag category alongside Carolyn. Kaden and Kylie Hutsell, 12, both competed in the Missouri Quarter Horse Association category.

Mr. Martin and Mrs. Chapman are proud of all of their students, but especially excited for their district competitors. “We are hoping they will make top three and move on to state,” said Mr. Martin.
