The El Dorado Springs boys basketball team kicked off a busy week on Tuesday with a game against the #7 ranked Lamar Tigers. The Tigers jumped out to a 23-8 first quarter lead. The Bulldogs could not make up any ground in the second quarter and went into the half down 32-17. El Dorado came out strong in the third quarter and outscored Lamar 20-15 and at one time cutting the lead to 6. The Tigers answered back with a run of their own and won the game 64-45. Riley Boyd led the Bulldogs with 17 points.

The Bulldogs had no time to rest. Wednesday was the rescheduled championship game of the Skyline Tournament which pitted the Bulldogs against the host school. the Skyline Tigers. The Bulldogs defense could not stop Skyline in the first half and went into the half trailing Skyline 39-25. The Bulldogs fought their way back into the game in the second half outscoring the Tigers 37-28 but it wasn’t enough. The Bulldogs lost 67-62 and finished second in the Skyline Tournament. Boyd led the team with 26 and Shane Trowbridge had 11.

El Dorado was back in action Thursday night for their third game in a row. This time the Bulldogs traveled to Rich Hill. The game was back and forth in the first half and tied at half time 29-29. The Bulldogs extended the lead to seven by the end of the third quarter and held onto the lead for most of the fourth quarter. A pair of three pointers by Rich Hill in the closing seconds made the game closer but El Dorado held on to win 55-54. Boyd led the team with 21 and Trowbridge added 14.

The Bulldogs travel to Clinton this week for the Clinton Tournament. They open Tuesday night against the host Clinton Cardinals.

Next home game is Feb. 2 against Butler.
