On Saturday, Oct. 9, the El Dorado Springs Cross Country team traveled to Butler for the 3rd Annual Butler Bear Cross Country Invitational. The Varsity Girls got things started. Hannah Klaiber and Audrey Goatley led the way, finishing 5th and 6th in an extremely close finish with just two tenths of a second separating them with times of 21:27.0 and 21:27.2. Morgan Mitchell, Olivia Graves, Clara Farran and Myka Barger all ran well with three of them running season or personal bests. Unfortunately, we had a couple of our girls under the weather, so they weren’t able to perform at their best and ended up in 4th place as a team.

On the Boys side, we were missing several to injuries, hoping to get back to health soon. Connor Goatley led the way finishing 4th with a time of 17:40.7. Garrett Klaiber ended up in 8th, with a time of 18:22.2. James King ended up 14th with a time of 19:22.0 and Riley Quinlan finished in 16th with a time of 19:53.5. Due to injuries these were the only four athletes that we had in the boys varsity race, but all four medaled, which was a great day. We also had Kyan Roberts, Kolton Nichols and Kandon McGuirk all run extremely well in the JV race with personal best times.

The middle school teams had an incredible day. On the girls side, Adalyn Parker led the way, finishing 5th with teammate Lela Brown finishing shortly behind in 7th place. Riley Lee, Rhielyn Nichols and Michaela Parker just missed medaling in the top 10, finishing 12th, 14th and 18th respectively. However, at the end of the day, the girls team found themselves at the top of the standings in 1st place as a team. They all ran really well.

The middle school boys team then tried to follow suit with the girls. Wyatt Klaiber got things started, winning the boys middle school race. Teammate Koal Caldwell finished shortly behind in 3rd. They were joined in the medals by Sylas Fletcher, 5th, Tyler Reasoner, 7th and Graydee Wolfe, 9th. When the smoke had cleared, the middle school boys team, also joined by Shane Fletcher, Kyson McGuirk, Wyatt Strawn and Kyler Zimmer, also found themselves in 1st place as a team. Overall, both the middle school boys and girls ran amazing and it showed with winning both divisions.
