On Saturday, May 13, the El Dorado Springs track team headed to Clinton for the Class 3 District 7 track meet.  The district meet featured 13 teams.  This meet was a qualifier meet into the sectional meet on May 20.  Athletes had to place into the top 4 in their event to move on.

Ashley Knoll lead the way for the girls.  Ashley started off the day placing 4th in the 1600, with a time of 5:43.98.  She followed that up with a 2nd place finish in the 3200 with a time of 12:20.17.  Neither of these were her best times, but she was just trying to get through with minimal effort to save some energy for the next two weeks.  Ashley was the only girl to qualify to next week, however, Sarah King placed 8th in the 800 with a near personal best time of 2:41.65.  Emily Ring rounded out the scoring for the girls, running a 10 second personal best time of 6:08.61 to place 8th.

On the boys side, Ethan Parshall got things started in pole vault, qualifying in the 4th place, with a personal best jump of 11’6”, which is a foot over his previous personal best.  Tyler Goatley got things going in the running events winning the 1600 with a time of 4:37.11, and winning the 3200 with a time of 10:02.57.  Tyler also placed 6th in the 800 just missing qualifying.  To round out the qualifiers, Shelby McKinney placed 4th in the javelin, with a throw of 141’4”.  This is the first year that javelin has been a scored event.  Shelby has really put a great deal of effort into learning the craft.  Shelby also placed 8th in discus with a throw of 117’10”.  Brendon Parshall placed 6th in the 200 with a time of 23.88.  The 4 x 100 team consisting of Keilan Jacques, Shelby McKinney, Rickey Huff and Brendon Parshall, placed 7th with a time of 47.79 seconds.

Tyler, Shelby, Ethan, and Ashley will continue on at the Class 3 Section 4 track meet, Saturday, May 20, again at Clinton.  They will join up with District 8, and the top 4 in each event will move on to the State Meet, which will be held in Jefferson City on May 26 and 27.
