The El Dorado Springs Golf Bulldogs competed in the Class 2 District 3 tournament on Monday at Payne Stewart Golf Course in Springfield MO. It was another historic day for the team as they placed second and qualified for state as a team, the first in school history. Coach Beckner said, “what an awesome day! Boys struggled with the wind a bit but found a way to pull out some scores. I haven’t checked the other district yet but I think we’ll have a shot to win it if the conditions are right.”
The Bulldogs qualified 4 individuals as a team. Lead by seniors Devun Salazar (placed 3rd overall ) and Auston Smith (placed 4th overall). Fellow senior Jaren Meisenhiemer and sophomore Rees McCullough round out the remaining qualifiers. When asked the difference between this year and last, Rees stated, “My game has developed a lot. I still rush sometimes and Coach gets on me, but that’s just part of it. Ha! I’ve really enjoyed the season and am excited for the state tournament.”
It is an exciting time for the Bulldogs as the three seniors of the team will graduate Sunday night and immediately travel to Columbia for competition. Beckner added, “Going to be an exciting time. Anxious to get it going and see how this story ends.”
