The Pembroke Hill Raiders used a late 4th quarter score to edge the El Dorado Springs Bulldogs on Friday night by a score of 14-6.

Pembroke Hill started the game off on offense, and with the help of 15 yards worth of penalties by the Bulldogs, marched down the field to take a 6-0 lead two minutes into the game.

ElDo responded by putting together a 14-play drive but the Bulldogs fell short on 4th down needing two yards from the Raiders 33.

Pembroke Hill got the ball down to the ElDo 14-yard line where the Raider Quarterback fumbled the ball and Keilan Jaques was there to jump on it for the Bulldogs. The first quarter came to an end two plays later in the fast moving game with El Dorado Springs trailing 6-0.

In the 2nd quarter the ElDo offense continued to struggle at having consistent movement of the football and was forced to punt from their own 38. The Raiders offense ran eight plays before stalling again and giving the Bulldogs the ball back.

The Bulldogs again ground out a 14-play series that came up short just before the first half came to a close. Working fast, the Raiders moved the ball down the field where the Pembroke QB threw a ball toward the endzone that was picked off by Riley Boyd at the 1-yard line with one second left. Needing to run one more play, Boyd kept the ball on a QB sneak for the Bulldogs, bringing the first half to a close with Pembroke Hill leading 6-0.

ElDo opened the second half on offense and again began to move the ball before stalling out. The Raiders took over on offense after a turnover on downs, but two plays later Dakota Long snatched the ball out of the air for an interception keeping the Bulldogs in the game. After a 15-play drive, ElDo was again forced to punt and nearly got the ball back when the Raider returner fumbled the ball before diving on it.

Pembroke Hill and ElDo would then trade 3-and-outs followed by a punt to end the 3rd quarter with the Raiders still up 6-0.

On the Bulldogs first drive of the 4th quarter Riley Boyd hit Jake Schieffer on a 70-yard touchdown pass to tie the game at 6-6. On the ensuing Raider drive, Jaques forced a fumble from the Pembroke Hill QB and the Bulldogs were able to fall on the loose ball. After a holding call the Bulldogs were forced to punt the ball away with 4:07 left in the game. The Raiders only took 3 plays to cover 70 yards where they regained the lead 14-6.

On the next offensive play the Bulldogs fumbled the snap allowing Pembroke Hill to run out the clock and win the game.

Head Coach Derek Scroggins said, “I thought that we took a step in the right direction. There were a lot of opportunities for us to win the game on both sides of the ball and we struggled to capitalize on it. We need to focus on taking another big step next week and we need to finish plays on both sides of the ball.”
