On Saturday, July 20, the Show-Me State Games held their powerlifting competition in Columbia. Competitors participated in bench press and dead lift.

Landon Leonard, a sophomore from El Dorado Springs, placed first in his age/weight bracket, bringing home two gold medals. Landon, the son of Dave and Tandi Leonard, the grandson of Jim and Ruth Leonard and JC and Janet Marshall.

Alex Barnes, formerly of El Dorado Springs, placed second in his age/weight bracket, bringing home two silver medals. Alex is a sophomore currently living in Chillicothe. His parents are Roger and Kathi Barnes.

Established in 1985, the Show-Me State Games are hosted by the University of Missouri. The goal is to promote health and fitness to all age groups. The Show-Me Games are the largest state games within the nation, bringing out 27,873 athletes in 2012 alone.
