Team Swat travels to Broken Arrow 3 cc

Students from Van Dyk’s Karate representing the SWAT National Karate Team traveled to Broken Arrow, OK, to compete in the 29th Annual Shotokan Tiger Karate Tournament sanctioned by the Oklahoma Karate Association. Many schools and teams competed in the tournaments which made for good competition. Team SWAT was well represented at the Tiger and competed very hard and earned some beautiful and unique medals and hardware.

Mason Gardner competed in the 10 – 11 Youth Novice Division and Placed 2nd in Traditional Weapons, 4th in Open Hand Forms and 5th in Point Sparring.

Hunter Malensek competed in the 10 – 11 Youth Novice Division and placed 1st in Traditional Weapons, 1st in Open Hand Forms and 1st in Point Sparring.

Jacey Swopes competed in the 6 – 7 Youth Novice Division and placed 3rd in Traditional Weapons, 1st in Open Hand Forms and 2nd in Point Sparring.

At this point the OKA Tournament Circuit season is at the halfway point and all three of these Students are currently ranked in the top five of their respective divisions.

Mason Gardner is 2nd in Traditional Weapons, 2nd in Open Hand Forms and 5th in Point Sparring.

Hunter Malensek is ranked 1st in Traditional Weapons, 1st in Open Hand Forms and 1st in Point Sparring.

Jacey Swopes is ranked 1st in Traditional Weapons, 1st in Open Hand Forms and 1st in Point Sparring.

Congratulations to these competitors and good luck to them and their fellow teammates with the rest of your season as you build to competing at Nationals in Minneapolis, MN, this October.
