TOPS Chapter 9319 El Dorado Springs met in The Firefly Services building, formerly known as “Preferred Family Healthcare” at 700 E. Hospital Rd, El Dorado Springs on Thursday, Sept. 19, for their regular weigh-in and meeting.

Our leader, Warren, called the meeting to order, Samantha led us in singing “A New Image.”

Marilyn led us in a series of stretching exercises.

We said our TOPS pledge and KOPS pledge

Warren then led us in Roll Call. 21 members weighed in, we had a gain of 10.6 lbs. and a loss of 8.0 giving us a net gain of 2.6 lbs.

Weeks’ best loser was Pat with a loss of 2.4 lbs. Congratulations Pat!

Other good losses were: Linda C 1 lb., Samantha 1 lb., Juanita 1.6, and Jan 1.8. Congratulations to all the losers!

Carol had the program today, first she commented on the recent “Fun Day” some of our members attended in Springfield on Saturday.

It was a good meeting, lots of summer contest losses. Fourteen chapters had a net loss of 5 or more pounds during the summer contest and our chapter was one of them!

There was information on a KOPS Society forming for the area chapters. The first meeting will be on November 1st in Springfield at the Springfield Library. More information to follow.

Carol’s program focused on the International Division Winners. There were a total of 25 international Division Winners featured in the current TOPS NEWS Magazine. To become a division winner at the local chapter level one must be at least 10 pounds lost by the end of the year. Carol read all the success stories from the top division winners from all over the nation. The five most common things all these winners did to achieve their loss was:

1. Do a weekly weigh-in

2. Exercise daily

3. Write in a journal, track your food you consume and your exercise

4. Support from friends and family

5. Attending weekly TOPS Meetings and staying for the meetings.

Carol said even though there are only 14 weeks left every TOPS member still has a chance to become a chapter division winner. If they could lose one pound a week that would put them at a 14-pound loss for the year.

Thank you, Carol, for an inspiring and interesting program.

Linda Hall also commented on the Fun Day on Saturday. She said several members of our chapter received awards. Those receiving exercise awards were: Jan 143 miles, Sue 205 miles, Laura 304 miles, Carol 129 miles, Linda H 310 miles and Marilyn 300 miles. She also reported everyone had a “Fun Day.”

Warren reminded us if you are in the current chapter contest and you lost, remember to put your name in for the drawing at the end of the contest.

Warren read a portion of a letter from our area coordinator, Randy. “TOPS Fights Obesity” TOPS is sponsoring a fundraiser to help with obesity research. They are asking members to help with this by getting the word out for donations.

Marble game: Linda Clay won the right to draw but did to get the winning one. The pot is at $45.

We sang Happy Birthday to Steve

With no other business we closed with our motto “IF IT IS TO BE IT IS UP TO ME”
